Having come from a family that loves music, I have been singing country and
gospel music for as long as I can remember. My father, Lester Spears, played
the five string banjo and a fiddle. We sang alot as the Spears family and it's
something I've tried to pass on to my own family. I have a wonderful husband
and five children. I currently sing with one of my daughters, the Spears family
and a gospel group called "The Soul Singers".
I like to write music and have written 20 of my own songs. Along with my brothers Russell Spears and
Welton Spears, I recently recorded a country CD that we are real proud of. I'm always busy with music and
that is when I'm most happy. I lost my eyesight about 30 years ago so I learned Braille to read and write.
I just sit down with my guitar and put the words and the music together.
I also have a gospel group that I sing with called "The Soul Singers". Members of this
group include my husband Paul (our sound man), Ron and Gladys Donahue. We have
sang at county fairs, 4th of July celebrations, wedding and anniversary celebrations and various churches throughout Northern Indiana. What we
enjoy most is a weekly song ministry at the local nursing home. Our hour long program is a lot of fun for us
and we use large print songbooks so the residents can sing along with us.
I enjoy making music and I hope that you folks enjoy it as much as I do. Jesus Christ is the head of my life. I have
been saved for many years and love the Lord with all my heart.
